Reference scenes in 3D software packages

The goal of this thesis is to create reference scenes in Autodesk Maya for the project OpenBRDF, which are meant to be used for testing as well as for rendering show-case pictures in high quality.
By documenting the scenes, OpenBRDF developers are not only provided with means for testing but also with the possibility to rebuild scenes in other 3D programs. In order to achieve this objective, two different scenes are created: a simple one, which meets the requirements for testing, and a complex one, which corresponds to the visualization of real commercial projects. The latter is realized using state-of-the-art methods, which are described in the thesis.
Another emphasis lies on the usage and rendering of HDR pictures. Here, the thesis addresses the issue of HDR environment maps and IBL. Particularly, the efficiency of the workflow with HDR pictures is analyzed and compared to the workflow with LDR pictures.
